Yassen Raamar

    Craft name

Thursday, September 6, 2007, 08:32 PM EST [General]

It's funny - I've been playing around with different names trying to see which one would fit me. I wanted a name to work with until my dedication meditation name came to me. Like others I've read about (while they were searching for their names) none seemed right to me, some even seemed a little corny. Then I was scrolling through my saved email and there it was. An email my sister sent me over two years ago with the phrase "with wings" written in Elvish. I had wanted something with wings tattooed on my back and she sent me this phrase (this was around the time both her and her hubby got Elvish sun and moon tattoos on them). I loved it. So I kept the email, waiting until I had the $200 or so to get inked. So today when I came across it, it just kinda hit me. With Wings. In Elvish it is Yassen Raamar. Here is the actual way it would be written. Isn't it beautiful?  For some reason ever since she told me this phrase I always felt like it fit me.

    Back to School #2

Wednesday, September 5, 2007, 01:21 PM EST [General]

Oh, I forgot to add!  I also started witch school at www.witchschool.com.  I think that signing up for it was really good for me, it's keeping me on track and motivates me to keep practicing the exercises.  Luckily this school gives me a month for each lesson (year and a day) so I find that it is my relaxing homework, which is great to do after the stressful assignments from MSU.

    Back to School

Wednesday, September 5, 2007, 01:15 PM EST [General]

I've now been back to school for about 2 weeks.  I know that I am in my senior year and am so close to getting my Bachelors, but I feel so overwhelmed.  Of course I'm sticking with it, and will continue onto my Masters, but I am just so sick of school!  I have been going year round since Jan 2005 with no break save over the winter holidays.  There is just so much busy work this semester, little stuff that adds up.  It seems like every week there are big assignments due.  Next semester will be even worse because I'll be in practicum.  I am trying to line up a practicum at either the local VA outpatient clinic or at hospice.  I volunteered a bit a hospice last summer and I think it would be good for me, but I also think that to get in at the VA is a foot in the door for when I actually get my Masters.  Ah,  to be a social worker...

    Hilton Head - Lughnasadh Ritual

Saturday, July 28, 2007, 11:24 PM EST [General]

Tomorrow morning we leave for the last leg of our summer vacation - Hilton Head, SC. We have some really good friends there that it will be nice to see again. What is even nicer is that they are about 50 yards from the beach. Which means I will be outside, by the ocean, on a private beach for August 1st Lughnasadh. This will be my first time with this ritual and I am excited. I will be able to cleanse all my tools in the ocean water also. I am taking the ritual from a few different books (Starhawk and Scott Cunninghams) but I am also open to new ideas. If anyone would like to share what made for them a good Lughnasadh experience, please do so.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Brightest Blessings!

    Harry Potter Book 7 - I'm Finished

Sunday, July 22, 2007, 11:09 AM EST [General]

I received my copy of Book 7 in the mail yesterday afternoon.  I started reading around 6:30 pm and finished the book around 3:15 am.  What an excellent read!  There were several cuss out loud moments for me, both in a good way and a bad way.  I am eager to discuss it with someone, alas, most of my friends who are fans do not have my ability to speed read.  If anyone is done and wants to discuss, please let me know!!
